Art has always been a passion of mine. Maybe it all started when I got a V-Tech Master Video Painter. Or maybe it was the overwhelming popularity of Keith Haring's vibrant artwork in the 1980's. In any case, when I got that "Art Effort" award in kindergarten, I knew I could do better. After that, I landed "1st Place Art" every year in elementary school ...except for 4th grade (but we won't talk about that).
In high school, I started messing around with Photoshop and coding some pretty shabby websites for me and my band. Being the neat freak and math geek that I am, UX design concepts and front-end development languages (i.e. HTML, CSS) came naturally to me. At Springfield College, I beefed up these skills and added JQuery and PHP to my repertoire. Meanwhile, I started painting, influenced heavily by the Impressionist movement. In 2008, I graduated magna cum laude with an Art Minor and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Graphics with a focus in web design.
Since college, I've worked for Varuna Design & Advertising, CommonPlaces e-Solutions, and now as Design Lead at Transparent Language - a language-learning solutions provider with a desire to increase global language proficiency and communication. Possessing a similarly mission-driven philosophy, I strive to promote unified advancement through integrity, hard work, and cooperation. In other words, I'm a stickler for consistent process and transparent communication, which in the past has placed me in project management roles. As a designer, I've become most proficient with Photoshop, but also work frequently with InDesign and Illustrator from the Adobe Creative Suite. At CommonPlaces, I worked primarily with the Drupal content management system (versions 5, 6, and 7), designing and coding in my meticulously pixel-perfect manner. At Transparent Language, I... - well, go browse for yourself!
